A few times smudging a bit early where the smudge has worked and the ghost has been repelled but smudging when it’s close by seems to get me killed just about every time.

I know how the smudge sticks work and how to use them I’ve invested a lot of time not only in game but watching streams to learn mechanics etc, this recent update has been causing this problem consistently of smudging then hands instantly killing me. Before this update I would do this and be able to walk through the ghost as mentioned above. Usually I wait for the ghost heart beat and or until the shadow/ghost model is close by my player model then I light the smudge the ghost ignored it completely and just kills me. Sorry, not happening to me so not sure how to fix or if it's a bug. You can literally walk through the ghost if its been smudged, so there's no way for it to hurt you if you do it right. The 2nd hit from smudge at the end won't extend that, so don't wait around. When it gets affected by the smudge, it will not be able to target you for 6 seconds. so if you light it too early, it will continue to attack and get you. The ghost has to be within 6 meters (or so?) to get affected by it. The smudge is like a flashbang with two hits, one at the start when you light it, and then against 3 seconds later when it burns out.
